- Folsom Street Fair is an annual BDSM and leather subculture street fair held in September, that caps San Francisco's "Leather Pride Week". The Folsom Street Fair in San Francisco is the largest BDSM event around the world. It takes place on Folsom Street between 8th and 13th Streets, in San Francisco's South of Market district. The first ever event occurred in 1984.
I heard of this event last year after it ended, so this year I was super pumped to attend it!
I'm not familiar with BDSM, but after I attended the event, it opened my mind so much!
Folsom 8th~13th streets were closed to traffic, various stages where bands such as Bright Light and Austra performed live. More than 200 vendors were on the sides of the roads selling anything from sex toys to fries, hot dogs along with plenty of exhibits from free HIV testing to adult magazines.
Most of the people were very friendly and were happy to be photographed,
so I took a bunch of pictures of people with cool costumes while walking around!
Attending the Folsom Street Fair is one of the once-in-a-lifetime must dos.
Just by walking around with a huge camera with normal "clothes-on" made me feel like I am from another planet, but this amazes me that how diverse this city is.
People who support and participate this community are all so comfortable and proud of what they love and what they stand of us an individual.
